What a fantastic week we've had starting with a slightly wet University day on Tuesday (do have a look at the video!) and ending with some glorious sunshine. We hope the children have a lovely weekend but do hope they all stay safe and drink plenty of water. As the weather is currently forecast to remain nice week it is important the children all have  a named sunhat and water bottle please.

    On to our brilliant book...

Infant 1- Lillie-Mae has had a fantastic week. On Wednesday all the children put on a show for Mrs Brown and Lillie-Mae was brilliant at organising everyone and telling the story. She did this in a very kind and gentle way and wasn't bossy with her friends. She has also done some careful detailed drawing this week, taking real pride in her work- well done!

Anders- for showing our value of friendship.  Anders is always kind and caring with his friends. He tries to involve everyone in games and take care of younger children.

Infant 2- Scarlett for great maths work transferring data from a tally to a bar chart and presenting her work beautifully.

Cameron- for showing great support and encouragement to both infant 1 and 2 during sports day practise.

Writer of the week- Ella S for a great recount of her seaside holiday using lovely handwriting and producing lots more than she ever has before!

Junior 1- Krishan and Rhona- for being fantastic buddies to reception children this afternoon. We did some paired reading between year 3 and reception and they were so sensitive and encouraging to the younger children.

Junior 2- Lukas and Tyler- for both being really good role models to the younger children during university day.

Next Tuesday  is sports day at 1.30pm we do hope you can join us for the afternoon!

  • Junior Masterchef Semi Final

    Tue 18 Jun 2019

Today we had the fantastic semi final for our Junior Masterchef. Seven fantastic contestants took part so a big well done to Hannah, Jaby, Orla, Oliver S, Erica and Rosy. We had 2 savoury choices- tomato and chorizo pasta and chicken tacos and 5 desserts including tiramisu, mars bar cake, Victoria sponge, treacle sponge pudding and Cranachan with shortbread biscuits.

The semi final was judged by Tom browns head chef Peter and general manager Adam. They were so impressed with the level of skill and delicious tasting food produced by all the children. Alongside cooking a dish of their choice the children also undertook a blind tasting featuring options such as feta cheese, olives, marshmallows and white chocolate.

It was a very tough choice but once the scores for taste, presentation and creativity were added together with their blind tasting scores we are pleased to announce our 5 finalists. I massive congratulations to Oliver, Hannah, Orla, Jaby and Erica. They will face the final at Tom Browns on Tue 9th July at 4pm.

What a brilliant week it has been- thank you to all those who joined us for our Thy Kingdom Come collective worship where we shared what the children had been doing the previous week in preparation for Pentecost. We also had a the brilliant Ben from Rock Steady Music School who will be back in September with some workshops for all children and further details of how your child can get involved.

    On to our brilliant book..

Infant 1- Well done to Frankie for some fantastic character speech bubble writing. Frankie wrote his sentences all by himself (and before anyone else - he added!)

Infant 2- Ella J- for huge improvements in her reading, she has moved to turquoise and read beautifully to the whole class with fantastic expression.

Mrs Brown also put the whole class in as she was so proud of them for their amazing ideas and hard work during the poetry lessons this week. She was so pleased with their engagement and determination to create high quality pieces of work. They are all super stars!

Junior 1- Carla- for her presentation and effort in everything especially her reading challenges this week. She has really shown what she can do!
Evie H- for her determined and confident attack of all activities but particularly maths this week. Evie has faced everything with a smile and what a big difference it has made!

Junior 2- George- for hard work and perseverance in maths. His work on drawing angles was very precise.

Freya- for hard work and a fantastic attitude. Well done!

Erica- for excelling in maths. Erica's ability to calculate square numbers was phenomenal.

Finally a big well done to all the Junior 2 children who went to Cober Hill last week.  Mr Tyler and Mrs Shaw had a great time taking them away. Their attitude and behaviour was fantastic for the majority of the time and they were all a credit to the school.
