The First 50 Words

When you write a story, probably the most important part of a story is the opening.  In this video, I’m going to read to you the first 50 words of some famous stories.  Can you guess what the story is?  Then you're going to write the first 50 to your own story.

Your task is to write the first 50 words to your own story. 

 

It can be any genre of story that you like – it could be adventure, fantasy, historical, mystery, science fiction – anything you like. 

 

Jot down a few ideas for what you want your story to be about and then write the first 50 words, remember, you need to hook the reader in! 

 

So you’re not writing the whole story, just the first 50 words.
