  • Virtual Values Slips!

    Sun 29 Mar 2020

One of my favourite parts of our fantastic Friday assembly is hearing how the children have been displaying our whole school values at home. I really missed it this last week so we are introducing virtual values slips!

I created the form on Friday and we have already had 10 in!! How fantastic is that. Thank you so much to those who have really brightened up my weekend hearing about how determined or respectful you have been. Well done to those who have shown friendship and forgiveness at such a tricky time and I know there are plenty of opportunities for service around the house right now!

For those who haven’t yet seen the link is here https://www.gunthorpeschool.co.uk/whole-school-values/ and I look forward to reading every single one!

  • Head Teacher vlog - Friday 27th March

    Fri 27 Mar 2020

Every week I normally write a blog post of all the exciting learning that has taken place in school this week... except we haven't had any learning in school! Instead most of us have been at home learning. Thank you to all those parents who have sent us emails of all the things you have been getting up to! Every week when we are closed I am going to post a video-blog known as a vlog here: https://www.gunthorpeschool.co.uk/headteacher-vlog-of-the-week/

Please do check it out and see if your child's work gets a mention!

*Disclaimer- Mrs Bills has never done a vlog before so apologies for the slightly shakey camera skills- I will definitely find a better way to do next weeks!*

  • Happy Mothers Day!

  • Coronavirus Update- School Closure information

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

Most of you will have heard the announcement earlier about all schools closing this Friday. We found out this news at the same time as the rest of the country.

We know many of you will have questions about school being open next week and who for. This is going to take a fair bit of organisation. Many of our staff have children and their own personal situations to work out too now but we will do our utmost to make something work and support all the key workers and families that need us.

We're told more guidance will be published for schools today. Once we're clear about what that is and out plan is in place we will let you know.

Please do use the learning at home and wellbeing sections of the website.

In this ever changing situation understanding Coronavirus can be confusing and difficult for adults to deal with. Children find this even harder.

This story about Coronavirus for Children is incredibly helpful

  • Head Teacher blog w/c 2nd March

    Fri 06 Mar 2020

What a brilliant book themed week we have had. The fantastic storyteller Nicky came in on Monday and worked with every class to create some superb stories and inspire some brilliant writing. Then on Wednesday we had our World Book Day Quiz- a big well done to team 6 who won Ella J, Lauren, Benjamin S, Isobel, Daisy, Lyla P,  Melissa, Erica, Josh, Rupert and Bella! Finally today we had an amazing stay and read and a very successful book swap. A big thank you to all those who dressed up you looked brilliant!

Next week we are going to all attempt to run a mile for Sports Relief. So come dressed in sporty clothes and bring a £1 donation.

    On to our brilliant book...

Infant 1- Claudie and Henry- for their brilliant mini beast hunt homework. They both spent some time looking for minibeasts and then wrote about what they did.

Niamh- super sentence writer- for her fantastic retelling of our storytellers frog story (see photo below)

Eleanor- for trying really hard with her reading. Eleanor showed real determination and a can do attitude. Well done!

Infant 2- Lyla M and Jake- for showing such kindness and frinedship to Marcell. They took care of him, were very gentle and were making him smile. Thank you both for making him so welcome at our school.

Junior 1- Zac- for his excellent joined writing when writing a story in his Englush book- a whole a4 side! He shared his story with a buddy this week and he was so impressed.
Leo- for his extra effort with his writing with Miss Wynands. For sharing his ideas- collaborating on the groups writing challenge. Well done Leo!

Junior 2- Summer, Melissa and Aleena- super maths work naming and sorting 3D shapes based on their properties (see pictures below) well done to all 3 of you!
