  • World Book Day

    Thu 05 Mar 2026

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day in school! The day began with a special Stay and Read session, where parents were invited into the hall to enjoy breakfast refreshments and share a book with their children. It was wonderful to see families reading together and starting the day with a love of stories.

The children also took part in a creative competition, re-staging a book cover of their choice. We were so impressed with the effort, imagination and attention to detail shown in all the entries.

Throughout the day, classes enjoyed a range of book-themed activities. Children designed their own bookmarks and front covers, and some even wrote letters to well-known authors including Michael Rosen and Julia Donaldson. We also came together for a whole-school book quiz, which created lots of excitement and friendly competition.

In the afternoon, every child used their book token to choose a brand new book to take home and enjoy. Our infant children also took part in a fun book hunt on the school field, adding even more adventure to the day.

It was a truly enjoyable day, celebrating reading and sharing our love of books — a great time was had by all!

  • Rugby Festival

    Wed 04 Mar 2026

We were delighted to host a fantastic rugby festival, welcoming teams from St Peter's School, East Bridgford and Orston Schools. It was a great afternoon of sport, with all the children showing excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship.

There was lots of encouragement and support from the sidelines, which created a brilliant atmosphere for everyone involved. In the end, our A and B teams both performed exceptionally well and finished joint first alongside a team from St Peter’s. Well done to all the players who took part!

A big thank you goes to FOGS  for organising a refreshments stand, which was very much appreciated by players and spectators. We would also like to give a special thank you to Robin for organising and coordinating such a successful event.

  • Junior 1 Creative Arts Workshop: Ancient Egypt Comes to Life

    Fri 09 Jan 2026

This week, our Junior 1 pupils have enjoyed an exciting and inspiring two-day drama workshop with Milly from Open Doors Creative Arts, culminating in a wonderful performance of The Girl with the Rose Red Slippers.

This ancient Egyptian tale is believed to be an early forerunner of the Cinderella story, and it provided a fantastic introduction to the children’s new Ancient Egypt topic. Through drama, movement and storytelling, pupils explored the characters, setting and themes of the story in an engaging and memorable way.

Over the two days, the children worked incredibly hard, developing their confidence, creativity and teamwork skills. They enthusiastically took on roles, practised scenes and helped shape the final performance, showing great focus and cooperation throughout.

The final performance was a real celebration of their efforts and showcased just how much they had learned in such a short time. The children were proud of what they achieved and thoroughly enjoyed bringing an ancient story to life.

Our Christmas Pop-Up Shop was a wonderful success and a true celebration of creativity and teamwork. Our Art Club pupils have been working extremely hard in the lead-up to Christmas, creating a wide range of festive crafts to sell, including decorations and sweet treats.

The shop was very well supported by our school community, and it was lovely to see so many people enjoying the festive atmosphere while admiring the pupils’ hard work.

  • Senior Sing Along

    Mon 15 Dec 2025

Our annual Senior Sing Along was a truly heart-warming afternoon that celebrated community, kindness and the spirit of Christmas. We were delighted to welcome older members of our local community into school for a cup of tea and cake. Guests were warmly greeted at the door by our wonderful Year 6 children, who escorted them to the hall where more eager volunteers were ready for friendly conversation and to serve refreshments.

Throughout the afternoon, a variety of singing groups from across the school entertained our visitors, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere. The event concluded with a special moment as the whole school and our guests came together to sing carols.

The Senior Sing Along beautifully embodied our school values of Respect, Service and Friendship and the true meaning of Christmas — bringing people together, showing care for others and sharing joy across generations.

  • Christmas Wishes for the World

    Mon 15 Dec 2025

Our recent collective worship encouraged us to reflect on the Christmas wishes we hold for the world. The children shared thoughtful and compassionate hopes, including ending homelessness, ensuring everyone has enough to eat, caring for our planet, spreading kindness, ending war and making sure no one feels lonely this Christmas. Each child wrote their individual wish on a star, which members of our Worship and Wellbeing group kindly displayed, reminding us all of the true meaning of Christmas.
