  • Christmas Dinner day

    Today we all enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner prepared by out fantastic school cook, Becks. The children all had a marvellous time pulling crackers, sharing jokes and enjoying the festive music.

  • Infant Christmas Nativity

    Our infant children gave a wonderful performance in this year’s Nativity, and we are incredibly proud of every one of them. The pupils performed The Bossy King with great enthusiasm, singing beautifully and speaking clearly throughout.

    It was lovely to see how much they enjoyed being on stage, sharing the story with confidence and smiles. Their hard work in rehearsals truly paid off, and the performance was a joyful celebration for families and staff alike.

    Well done to all of our amazing performers!

  • Jingle Jog

     Today our Junior 1 children took part in this year’s Jingle Jog at Rushcliffe Country Park, joining pupils from other local schools for a festive, fun-filled event. The children completed a 1-mile route around the park lake, collecting reindeer stamps along the way and enjoying the cheerful atmosphere.

    The event was designed to promote physical activity in a social and enjoyable setting, and our pupils took part with great enthusiasm. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season while keeping active and connecting with others. Well done to everyone!

  • KS1 Fundamentals Festival

    Our Year 1 children attended a Fundamentals Festival after school today, where they developed their athletics skills in a fun and engaging way. The children moved around a series of activity stations, developing a range of techniques including -throwing, long jump, hurdles, sprinting and relay. They all had a fantastic time and behaved impeccably throughout — a real credit to the school.

  • Children in Need

    Today we held a non-uniform day to raise money for Children in Need. Families were invited to make a voluntary donation, and thanks to the wonderful generosity of our school community, we raised £90. Well done to everyone!

  • Gunthorpe Remembers

    For Remembrance Day, each class created a beautiful wreath to mark the occasion. We came together for a minute’s silence and a special collective worship, reflecting on the importance of remembering while praying for all those affected by conflict. Some of our Junior 2 children also read In Flanders Fields, which was extremely moving and added great depth to our time of reflection.

  • Odd Sock Day - Anti Bullying Week

    To mark Odd Socks Day, children and staff came to school wearing bright, colourful and wonderfully mismatched socks. The day was a fun way to celebrate individuality and remind everyone that it’s good to be different. Through class discussions and activities, we explored the importance of kindness and respecting one another. It was a cheerful start to Anti-Bullying Week, with our whole school community joining in.

  • Diwali Celebrations

    This week our Infant children enjoyed learning about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. The children explored the different ways people celebrate Diwali and the importance of light in the festival.

    They loved creating their own diya lamps, using and experimenting with mehndi designs, drawing intricate patterns. They worked together to make colourful rangoli patterns to welcome good luck.

    As part of their learning, the children listened to the story of Rama and Sita, discovering how it links to the triumph of good over evil and why lights are so important during Diwali.

     

  • Wellbeing Week

    Our school enjoyed a fantastic Wellbeing Week, filled with activities that supported positive relationships, emotional regulation and healthy minds.

    We began with a whole-school PSHE Day focused on relationships, helping children reflect on how we care for ourselves and others. Throughout the week, pupils took part in a range of workshops exploring regulation, mindfulness and resilience, giving them practical tools to manage emotions and build confidence.

    We were delighted to welcome Milly from Open Doors, who led uplifting movement and music sessions that the children thoroughly enjoyed. The Mental Health Support Team also visited, delivering engaging sessions across the school as well as hosting a helpful pop-in session for parents.

    The week finished on a real high with a brilliant cake sale organised by FOGs, and a vibrant book sale run in partnership with One More Chapter, our independent bookshop in Radcliffe.

    It was a wonderful week full of learning, positivity and community spirit!

  • Harvest Donations Gratefully Received by The Friary in West Bridgford

    Today, our school delivered the generous donations collected during our Harvest Festival to The Friary in West Bridgford. The volunteers there warmly received the tins and packets, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the community's support.

    The Friary is a registered charity dedicated to assisting homeless and vulnerable adults in the Nottingham area. Operating six days a week, they offer a range of services.

    Each year, The Friary supports over 15,000 visits, providing essential help to those in need. Their mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives through practical support and compassionate care.

    We are proud to contribute to this vital work and thank all our families for their generous donations.
