Head Teachers Blog w/c 13th January

What a brilliant week we have had! Here is just a highlight:

Our choir attended young voices for the first time and had an incredible time- photos and what they thought can be found here https://www.gunthorpeschool.co.uk/news/detail/young-voices/

Junior 1 have had an incredibly exciting week with the BBC weather forecaster Anna Church visiting on Wednesday. All the children had a chance to have a go and really enjoyed learning about it as part of their topic on Climate zones. Thank you Mrs Brown for organising.

Year 3/4 atheletics team did brilliantly at South Notts Academy on Wednesday. They represented the school superbly. They were motivated, showed great team work and supportd everyone in all schools. Mrs Findlay and Mrs Nolan were proud of them all and they have all got a respect and determination sticker on their chart!

Junior 1 also had bikeability on Thursday this week- the adults running the sessions reported the children were incredibly well behaved, good cyclists and determined. Well done all those who achieved Level 1!

On to our brilliant book...

Infant 1- Claudie and Pheobe- for their brilliant three bears story maps. Both girls spent time on their work and used lots of great story language when retelling the story. Well done!

Infant 2- Writer of the week: Jessie- for a well thought out winter poem using verbs and alliteration.

Seth, Ella J, Heidi and Ella S- for determination and perserverance with their maths work. They were honest that they were struggling but pushed themselves to grasp a concept and practise until they understood it. Well done to you all!

Junior 1- Leon- for his accurate voice and expression when presenting the weather during our weather watch session.

Rhona- for reading at home independently and showing such good understanding of the book. Well done!

Junior 2- Kai has shown fantastic reading with excellent fluency and understanding this week. Keep it up!
