Welcome to Gunthorpe Church of England Primary School

I am very pleased to be able to welcome you to our website. Gunthorpe CofE Primary School is a small village school (with lots of personality!) that prides itself on academic excellence. Staff, children and their families, work together to build a close whole school community that is based on strong Christian values of Service, Determination, Friendship, Forgiveness and Respect.

I hope as you explore our website further you will be able to get a feel for what life is like at Gunthorpe and any information you might require. I would also encourage you to follow us on twitter @gunthorpecofeps or Facebook for regular updates of ‘in the moment’ learning.

I would be very happy to show you round and invite you to make an appointment for a tour please ring or email to arrange this. I am very proud to lead Gunthorpe school, an incredibly warm and welcoming place where everyone is known and valued.

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

I would like to welcome you to Gunthorpe C of E Primary School.

The purpose of the school’s Governing Board is to ensure that every child in our school is able to thrive and reach their potential through the very best education. Some of the ways we aim to ensure this is by:

  • Working strategically to develop the school and raise standards
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress
  • Supporting and challenging the Head Teacher and school staff
  • Ensuring that the school is effectively financially led
  • Ensuring we have a broad, balanced and rich curriculum that supports our pupils
  • Ensuring the school is safe and that the welfare and education of the children is at the centre of all we do.

All of the Governors who make up the Board are volunteers and are drawn from parents of pupils at school, staff, members of the local community, people with specific expertise and from the Church. The Board provides practical and strategic support to hold school leaders to account.

As Chair of the Governing Board I am committed to working with my Board colleagues, Mrs Bills and the dedicated staff team to ensure that our wonderful school continues to provide an excellent and rich education for our children. It is a privilege to be involved with a school as special and warm as Gunthorpe where the school values of service, determination, friendship, forgiveness and respect are so evident in the everyday life of the school. As the parents and carers of the children in our school, the Board is always keen to hear your views. If you do wish to contact me please do so through the school office.
