What a fantastic week it has been please do see the December newsletter and look at the twitter for some fantastic photos and updates on this last week of term. Far too much to mention here!

This week in the brilliant book we have...

Infant 1- Henry for building a fantastic sleigh out of a cardboard box for all his friends to play in.
Niamh then made shiny noses for all her friends who wanted to be reindeer! Oh what fun!

Infant 2- writer of the week - Freddie for a great letter to Santa explaining why he has been good all year!

Seb- for enthusiasm and asking lots of questions at white post farm!

Junior 1- Hudson for his extraordinary achievements in taekwondo. He brought in his trophy to show us as he was chosen as fighter of the year 2019 after only starting just over a year ago. He is doing so well, concentrating and working hard. He just skipped a belt in his grading- what a star!

Harrison- for his service at all time’s to school. He shows real integrity when being his best even when no one else is around. From helping new people settle into school to going the extra mile when someone dropped out and learning extra lines in the concert. You truly are an example of our school value!

Junior 2- for all year 6s showing service in our senior song-a-long.

Athletics team- a brilliant effort in the Rushcliffe final. 9th out of the whole of Rushcliffe and 1st out of all the small schools. What an achievement we are really proud of you all.

To all Junior 1 and Junior 2 in the carol concert a big well done from Mr Tyler and Mrs Nolan!

All that remains is to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

What a brilliant busy week we have had at Gunthorpe:

Our lacrosse team playing brilliantly on Wednesday- well done to Oliver, Benjamin, Joshua, Orla, Erica and Harriet for being so determined and not giving up.  They played against a very good side but demonstrated resilience and got better with every game. Joshua also took part in a cross country final last weekend and placed second overall which was an incredible achievement. He brought in his silver medal which he wore with pride. Well done Josh!

All the infants sang their hearts out on Wednesday during the Nativity and we hope you enjoyed their performance. We were incredibly proud of each and every one of them.

The 2 rock bands performed brilliantly on Tuesday morning - they have been having lessons with Rock Steady and have made excellent progress!

Our year 6 pupil parliament representatives decorating our Christmas tree for the festival at St Marys on Thursday morning and our "While Shephards Watched" tree looks brilliant.

And next week is set to be even busier with the Infants visit to White Post farm, the Junior carol concert, the senior sing-a-long, christmas dinner day and party day!

    On to our brilliant book..

Infant 1- Ava and Eleanor- for both trying really hard with their reading. Eleanor has been getting quicker with her blending and Ava has been trying to read quickly and blend words in her head. Well done to you both!

Infant 2- Writer of the week- Rhys for his brilliant first 3 pages of his christmas story. He remembered lots of detail, used great language and really tried hard with his handwriting well done!

Junior 1- Leo and Jacob- for their kind and friendly discussions in GOSH this morning. They included everyone in the group and made sure everyone was able to play their game. This meant everyone was happy before they started the day.

Junior 2- Amber- really good maths using a number line for subtractions involving decimals.
Kai- for 18/18 for his spelling test - a real testimony to his hard work and practise.

Rosie- for her fantastic work on a maths reasoning SAT scoring 35 out of 35!

We had our Christingle service on Monday, Nottingham Forest bring the Champions Cup in on Tuesday and Framework visit on Wednesday to share where our Alternative Advent donations are going! On to our brilliant book...

Infant 1- Bella and Pheobe- for their fantastic Starry Night pictures. Both girls took their time and added details. They then decided to make another Starry Night picture all by themselves, collecting everything they needed. Do have a look at them below!

Infant 2- Lyla Mullins- for being really helpful. A kind and caring member of the class and a great role model.

Jake, Lauren and Seb- both Mrs Brown and Mrs Shaw were blown away with their vocab and maths knowledge.

A bonus mention to Freddie for his beautiful Big Freeze art work- absolutely stunning.

Junior 1- Year 3/4 girls in the Futsal team played really well and even managed to score a goal which is a fantastic achievement. They lost one game 1-0 and drew the other 1-1. Well done to all involved!

  • Alternative Advent Calendar

    Fri 06 Dec 2019

Many thanks to all families who have joined with us to support Framework in supporting the homeless this winter through our alternative advent calendar. We have been overwhelmed by your generosity once more. We had Kris come and visit us to share all about the work Framework do.

Each day children from every class bring in items which make such a difference to the lives of those who have much less. This helps teach the children about our value of service and appreciate how much they have.

A big thank you to Melissa and Amy who have gone the extra mile and made raindeer food and hot chocolate raindeer which are for sale in the entrance with all donations going to Framework.
