Watch the Horrible Histories video below to hear the famous Samuel Pepys give his account of The Great Fire of London! Listen out for some facts and information that we may not have discovered yet.


After the video, you will need to complete the activity (either Year 1 or 2) by reading Samuel Pepys' diary and identifying the features such as;


Time Conjunctions - Now, next, then, after, tomorrow, later etc.


Past tense verbs - jumped, ran, helped, shouted etc.


Expanded noun phrases - shiny boots, black smoke, poor, helpless people etc.


Questions - a sentence ending in ?


You will then have a go at thinking of your own ideas and jotting them down in the table at the bottom of the sheet...this will help when you will be writing your own diary entry as Samuel Pepys later on this week.
