Another fantastic week at Gunthorpe. It was amazing to hear the children at the start of the week talk about one of our school values of Forgiveness. The children regularly amaze me by how well they are able to articulate their thoughts and feelings. We see the children listening to each other, accepting they don’t always make the right choices and showing they are sorry each and every day. They are a real credit to you!

We ended the week with the fantastic Macmillan coffee morning and cake sale. A huge thank you to those parents who helped set up (both at the start and end of the day!) and those who joined us in the hall this morning. A really brilliant event and Oliver was even commended in our brilliant book by another child for his enthusiasm and helpfulness selling cakes. Thank you Junior children from Pupil Parliament.

You may have received an email from school- as part of our quest to go paperless we will now be emailing the monthly newsletters. Not everyone’s details have been updated onto the system yet so we will still be providing a paper version but hopefully by November we will  be able to take full advantage of this change.

In the brilliant book this week we had:
Infant 1- Seb- For great determination during phonics. Seb can hear the initial sounds in lots of different words! Well done
Alex- for being really helpful in the class and helping her friends if they need it. Alex is a great example of our school value of Service.

Infant 2- Georgie- for excellent concentration and determination when representing subtraction number sentences in picture form
Scarlett- For perseverance when adding and subtracting 11 and 21 from any 2 digit number!

Junior 1- Melissa- for an excellent attitude to the start of year 4. Working extremely hard, enjoying success and feeling confident.
Kyle- for the quality of his writing. He always uses neat joined and writing and good punctuation.  He is developing his use of powerful vocabulary by adding adverbs and adjectives.
Amber- for her confident, energetic and positive approach to everything this year.  She has already made good progress!

Junior 2- Ben and Tyler- for excellent maths work demonstrating good reasoning when rounding numbers. Ben informed us all he is now an expert!
