Head Teacher Blog w/c 4th March

What a fantastic jam packed week it was in school!
Bishop Paul visited us on Wednesday to mark the start of lent. He led a fantastic collective worship thinking about our superhero power and how we can accomplish anything with God in control. He then met with our prayer team and then went into Junior 1 to answer some brilliant questions they had.

On Wednesday afternoon we had our first round of Junior Masterchef with all juniors creating a pizza- some of them with interesting sweet related results! Infant 2 also had a visit from Samuel Pepys.
Thursday we had our joint world book day with Langar. Author Rachel Greaves visited us in the morning and introduced us to Ruffle her rail way dog and all the fantastic stories she has written about him. In the afternoon all the juniors met at Gunthorpe and all the infants at Langar. It was so lovely to see the children eat together, enjoy the stories together and get to know each other. We hope to do more of this in the future. Do let us know what your child enjoyed!

On to our brilliant book…
Infant 1- Super Sentence writer was Seb- Mrs Findley was so impressed with Seb. He wrote all the words in his sentence today on his own. Well done!
Dylan- Miss Simister wanted to say a big well done for his brilliant butterfly life cycle. Dylan drew some beautiful pictures of a caterpillar throughout its life cycle and showed great determination in his writing.

Infant 2- Seth and Jessie- for brilliant enthusiasm and historical knowledge when Samuel Pepys came to visit.
Writer of the week- Leo- for fantastic focus and use of vocabulary in his Great Fire of London newspaper article.

Junior 1- Summer and Sophia- Mr Hall was so impressed at how both girls did in a science test to see how much they have learnt during their topic on solids, liquids and gases. It showed how well they listen and how hard they work! Well done!
Kai- Well done for your fantastic water cycle work. He completed it independently, getting everything right and being very impressive!

Junior 2- George and Erica- for great maths work multiplying fractions by whole numbers.
Ben Ba- For a fantastic opening paragraph to your mystery story. Mr Tyler can’t wait to read on and find out what happens next…

Mr Tyler also wanted to say a big well done to the Lacrosse Team- a really impressive team performance showing great determination. They played 3 games, they won 1 and lost 2 but were a credit to the school throughout!
